Bio

Joe has been in ministry for over 30 years. He was saved at a young age but totally dedicated his life to God while still in High School and became a witness to many of his classmates.

He started ministering at the age of 17 by driving about 70 miles one way to teach a youth group every Sunday.

He also began working as a volunteer for God's News Behind the News, a local TV ministry started by Dr Ray Brubaker in 1948.  He started working part time after school but that eventually became a full-time paid position.

At 18, a mentor of his named Micky Holiday, who had a singing ministry, was upgrading his musical equipment and gave Joe all of his used equipment and everything he would need to travel around to local churches and do singing engagements.

He was made the music minister of a local church at 19 and did all of the worship music.

Two weeks before his 20th birthday he married Kaye Brubaker, the daughter of Ray Brubaker who was the founder of God's News. The two of them then went to Bible college and Joe completed the 2-year program in the area of developing his teaching ministry and graduated from Rhema Bible Training Center in 1984.  During that time they had a son in 1983 named Jeremy Daniel.

After graduating he was then asked to be the associate pastor of Cathedral Chapel in St Petersburg, FL, under his father-in-law Ray Brubaker and did the lion share of the preaching for over a year.

At the age of 23 they then moved to Tennessee and became the "Road Pastor" for Phil Driscoll the musician. Joe did all of the traveling logistics for Phil Driscoll's ministry and traveled extensively to many different churches all around the country, with Phil, which he did for 2 years. In 1986 they had another child, their daughter Charity Darlene.  In 1987 Joe and Kaye moved back to Florida and became the Youth Pastor of Victory Family Christian Center in Sarasota and were there for another 2 years.

At age 27 he then went back to work for his father-in-law's TV ministry and became part of the TV program, God's News Behind the News.  He also became the administrator of the ministry for over 17 years. Eventually he became the President of God's News and has carried the TV ministry forward in the place of his father-in-law who resigned as President in 2001. He has written over a half dozen books under the God's News label that are prophetic in nature and been asked to appear on Evangelist Benny Hinn's TV program as well as been a guest on the TBN "Praise the Lord" show. He has a heart for end-time events and the truth of God's Word being proclaimed in a world that is being misled by today's biased and liberal media.

During that time he also took the place as senior pastor of Cathedral Chapel which grew out of the building they were meeting in and so merged with our local Foursquare church - Calvary Foursquare. The Senior Pastor of that church stepped down and Joe became the Senior Pastor after becoming a certified Foursquare Minister and joining the Foursquare denomination in 1999. The church went through many changes, including changing the name to "Gateway Christian Center".  The congregation has grown to well over 300 and is growing stronger. We have purchased an entire block in the heart of our city and a beautiful old Lutheran church building. Pastor Joe wants to stay in the heart of our city and believes God is giving us the city of St Petersburg and has made our church one of the "gatekeepers" of our city. When other church leaders are abandoning the inner cities he is more determined than ever to stay no matter how hard it gets. Pastor Joe does realize the importance of evangelizing our city and of getting out of the four walls of our church building. Pastor Joe believes that the next big revival and move of God will be in the streets of our cities. It was prophesied over Pastor Joe that the world would be touched by what begins at Gateway Christian Center. He has a definite love of teaching the Word.
